“Be afraid of nothing. You have within you all wisdom, all power, all strength, all understanding” Eileen Caddy, Co-founder of the Findhorn Foundation
I have recently had the pleasure of leading a group through the Secrets of Spiritual Health and Happiness programme.
During this six-week course we consider the spiritual practice of Asking for Help and I remember the relief I felt when I first realised that I am not alone, that I don’t have to do life all by myself.
Admittedly my light bulb moment came during a time of crisis, caring for my father during the last months of his life. Not knowing what to do I reached a point of surrender, as I handed over the situation to a higher power.
It is hard to describe how instantaneous was my relief in that moment. All I know is that I felt held, comforted, my fear assuaged by a deep sense of peace and trust that I was accompanied by a love that is ever present and true.
As Eileen Caddy also says “All that you need is deep within you waiting to unfold and reveal itself. All you have to do is be still and take time to seek for what is within and you will surely find it”.
A deep inner connection is available to us all.
When we spend time alone and in silence and attune to our inner wisdom, we allow healing truths to be revealed to us from within.
We create space for insight and growth and make decisions that align with our values.
I am inspired by the teachings of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) which Alan Cohen defines as “a self-study system of spiritual transformation from pain and suffering to healing, joy and love as we claim our identity as divine beings”.
Through ACIM I am learning to nurture my spiritual guidance – the voice of love deep within - and I invite you to join me in the following simple meditation practice:
Be humble and align with your true nature, your soul essence, the voice of love, the truth of who you are. “Love, which created me, is what I am” (ACIM W-229). The voice of love is within us and speaking to us all the time.
When you bless a situation with love, and ask love to guide your thoughts and actions, you make yourself available to inspiration, grace, miracles and a positive outcome. Listen to what the voice of love wants you to know.
Whenever you are afraid it is a sign you are trying to do life all by yourself. Whenever you experience feelings of powerlessness (e.g. sadness, anger, grief) call upon a higher power.
Ask love to show you how to be a loving presence in this situation and remember that love always answers because it finds it impossible not to answer a call.
