Another energy tool to have in our self-care toolkit is the ability to clear and cleanse our energy field of unwanted debris. Any irritations, unpleasantness or other negative occurrences in your daily life can remain lodged in your energy field. This includes thoughts and thought patterns of yourself and others.
Crystals can be used effectively in this regard. Cleanse, dedicate and tune a crystal to help clear your energy field. Hold the crystal in your hand and imagine you are standing under a waterfall of soft light. Imagine the light flowing through and around you, removing any impurities as it goes. Then see the light filling and replenishing you. Ground yourself at the end.
Crystals which may be used to help clear the energy field include:
- Clear Quartz – the Master Healer, highly energising and helps clear blockages.
- Apophyllite – known as the universal cleanser and of a very high vibration, it clears in an energising way, releasing mental blocks and negative thought patterns.
- Selenite – high and fine energy, clears the higher levels within the auric field.
- Snowy Quartz – clears persistent blockages and purifies the energy field.

Any time you take a real shower you can focus on being cleansed on all levels. If you take a bath, then you can tune a handful of Epsom / Dead Sea salts for clearing and add them to the water.
The Bach Flower Remedy Crab Apple has the ability to transmute inner disharmony into harmony and may be used to cleanse the energy field.
Crab Apple is the cleansing remedy for both mind and body, allowing us to accept both ourselves and our environment. It is the remedy of choice when we feel mentally or physically unclean and are anxious to be free of it.
As a Subtle Energy Medicine practitioner, I am sensitive to the energy field of those I work with, and it is common for those who work therapeutically with clients to feel the effects of stagnation or become aware that their energy field feels grubby and needs clearing at the end of a session.
Use of Crab Apple (alongside Walnut for protection and Clematis for grounding) minimises the effect of energetic imbalances in my client’s energy field impacting my own.
Crab Apple may be used both internally and externally, for example by adding a few drops to a warm bath.
The Cleansing Breath Exercise is a highly effective technique for clearing, balancing and strengthening the energy field.
Stand straight and breathe seven times around your energy field, each time a little further away from the body. Start with the colour red (closest to the physical body), then orange, yellow, green, sky blue, indigo and end with a violet blue colour. Alternatively, you can just use “white” light. On the in breath imagine the colour rising up from behind your feet, right up over the top of your head. On the out breath imagine it flowing down the front of you into the earth taking any debris with it.
You could hold a Clear Quartz crystal to help you with this. Ground yourself at the end.
Maintaining a clear energy field is essential to attaining optimal health and well-being. These simple self-healing techniques strengthen our boundaries, making us happier and more fulfilled, achieving greater self-awareness which in turn allows us to understand others better too.
